FREE & FUN HIGH-TECH PROGRAM

Girls in Game Design is a hands-on program where students build and play real games every session. Using MakeCode Arcade and Python with Pygame Zero, participants progress from simple games like Flappy Bird and Snake to a fully playable 2D platformer, layering in mechanics like scoring, timers, and power-ups along the way.

No prior coding experience needed. The focus is on game logic and making things that are actually fun to play. Asset packs are provided so students spend their time building, not drawing, though custom art is always an option.

Women remain underrepresented in the gaming industry, and this program is designed to change that pipeline. Participants leave with multiple finished games, real Python experience, and the confidence to keep building.
