Intro to Wood Shop with Dan Ruby

You’ll receive a hands-on introduction to the various types of woodworking available at MakerspaceCT with hands-on instruction on hand tools, handheld power tools, and larger equipment.

Hands-on instructions include training on: the chop saw, table saw, panel saw, scroll saw, band saw, pneumatic nailer, drill press and the various sanders in the shop.

Each equipment lesson will cover:

• the role of the tool in your design
• how to use it safely and identify when something is wrong
• when and how to modify blades and parts (and what members are allowed to do)
• expectations for safety, cleanliness, communication, and general procedure at MakerspaceCT.

No experience necessary. You do not have to be a MakerspaceCT member to attend, but all students must sign up online and pay tuition to attend this class.
