Credentials: Textiles Safety

Take the safety class to get access to the equipment of the Textiles shop of MakerspaceCT! We have an array of industrial sewing machines, a serger, and a wealth of experience to guide you. Sewing and its surrounding disciplines can be used in a wide range of maker projects, either alone or integrated with other shop projects. It's an absolute essential skill for the budding maker.

The course content includes:

Overview of machinery safety
Locations of all supplies
Safe use of power cutter, scissors, iron
Proper posture and comfort, foot and knee controls
Threading all machines, setting proper tension
Winding bobbins
Changing needles
Instructor demonstrates each machine of the machines

Materials Included: A variety of fabrics to experiment on, as well as all tools and accessories. Participants are welcome to bring their own to experiment with!
