Learn to make a cutting board at MakerspaceCT! Apart from building a beautiful piece that will last forever, participants will learn several essential skills for the wood shop that they can use in future projects.

The course content includes:

How to read grain direction and how it applies to various tools.
Intro to table saw sleds / jigs & best practices when choosing tools / methods vs desired outcome.
Understanding glue types & their different clamp pressures & uses.
Tools used: jointer, planer, drum sander, palm sander, router table, table saw, clamps.

Materials Included: Wood samples to work on, as well as the equipment, consumables, finishing oil. Participants are welcome to bring their own, but be aware that MakerspaceCT is not equipped to allow finishes with VOC's, and that not all wood types are usable for cutting boards for a variety of reasons.
