Course Description:
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the art of garment creation by designing and sewing their own quarter-zip pullover. The class will cover essential sewing skills including measuring for fit, drawing a pattern, cutting fabric pieces, and assembling them into a finished garment. You'll also learn how to add zippers and elastic cuffs for a professional touch.
By the end of the session, students will have completed their own quarter-zip pullover and will feel confident using a sewing machine. This class is perfect for those looking to gain practical skills in garment construction and pattern making.
Course Objectives:
Measure and fit fabric for a quarter-zip pullover.
Draw a pattern and cut fabric pieces.
Assemble fabric pieces and sew them together.
Add zippers and elastic cuffs to complete the garment.
Outcomes:
Participants will leave with a finished quarter-zip pullover and the skills to draft basic patterns, cut fabric, assemble pieces, and complete simple garments. Students will also gain greater confidence in using sewing machines and applying techniques to future projects.

2 yards of fleece in a variety of patterns and colors*
Elastic for cuffs
Plastic zippers
Paper for pattern making
(*Students may bring 2 yards of their own fleece if they’d like a specific design.)

About the Instructor:
Julie Gauthier is a full-time instructor at MakerspaceCT with a passion for bright colors, funky patterns, and lots of glitter. She has been sewing since the age of 7 and enjoys sharing her craft with others.
