BY YOUTH - FOR YOUTH

The e-NABLE Community is an amazing group of individuals from all over the world who are using their 3D printers to create free 3D printed hands and arms for those in need of an upper limb assistive device. They are people who have come together and collaborate on ways to help improve

The open-source 3D printable designs for hands and arms for those who were born missing fingers or who have lost them due to war, disease or natural disaster.

The e-NABLE Community is made up of teachers, students, engineers, scientists, medical professionals, tinkerers, designers, parents, children, scout troops, artists, philanthropists, dreamers, coders, makers and every day people who just want to make a difference and help to “Give The World A Helping Hand.”

WHY?

This designation allows MakerspaceCT to be a certified hub in the Hartford area to print, build, and deliver prosthetic hands to people in need.

This will improve the lives of amputees while concurrently teaching STEM skills to local students. Imagine the training these students will receive while experiencing the humbleness of giving a prosthetic to a peer in need.

THE STUDENTS

HIGH SCHOOL ages 14 - 18 and from all demographics in the Hartford region.

THE CURRICULUM

Students will learn the process of additive manufacturing, CAD design, and post processing while engaging in a meaningful project intent on helping those in need.

Through the support of the MakerspaceCT, Instructors utilizing the e-Nable online community students will work to get MakerspaceCT put “on the map”.

THE SCHEDULE

12 students meet 2 nights a week for 2 hours ( 3p-5p) for 6 Weeks

24 hours of project-based development at the MakerspaceCT tech lab - downtown Hartford includes meals, materials, and take-home projects.

COHORT A SCHEDULE:

COHORT A  is Wednesdays and Fridays 3:00pm-5:00pm, April 22nd through May 29th


This program is open to Connecticut High School students ages 14-18. The tuition-free training is in-person and on-site at MakerspaceCT in Downtown Hartford.
